**Maryam Khaqan**

I am a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Mathematics at Emory University. My advisor is John Duncan.

My **research** involves modular forms, mock modular forms, elliptic curves, and moonshine. I am more broadly interested in number theory, algebra, geometry, and mathematical physics.

I have an undergraduate degree in Physics (with a minor in Mathematics) from **Lahore University of Management Sciences**, in Lahore, Pakistan.

I enjoy **teaching**** **and spend a lot of time thinking about effective and inclusive teaching practices. I have earned two teaching fellowships during my time in graduate school. You can find details about the fellowships here.

My non-mathematical hobbies include **photography**** **and cooking.
